Welcome to Neubauer Furniture Design

The pieces I make, have been carefully crafted of a yearning for quality, and are made in hopes of being passed on to new generations, while attempting to keep the stigma of the disposable life at bay. They are a response to the intricacies of the world around me, the materials I come in contact with, and an insatiable appetite to learn as well as pass on knowledge to others.

I use a variety of material to gain an understanding of the world and myself. My work is a reflection of experimentation and discovery of new possibilities for an unassuming material. I am driven by my experiences in life to design intelligently and progressively; with that I intend to offer an ergonomically engineered and sound alternative to the mass produced commodities of today.

When working through a design I assess potential issues and how I might combat them within the design. However, there are unforeseen enigmas that must be dealt with throughout the creation process. These challenges must be embraced, and may shape the piece in a number of ways. I choose to work with reclaimed, new, and local material in an attempt to push the boundaries of my design as well as minimize the affect I have on my environment. Working with material that previously had another life and local material is not only an aesthetic decision as well as these materials possess an inherent history that can be, with care, brought out in the work. This often provides an ambiguous emotional or narrative connection to the piece that viewers can experience.  I embrace old traditions and history in my work and process, as well as try to employ new technique where it will expedite my work or add a new element to the design; all the while continuing to be reverent to the history of making and the pioneers of the art that came before me.

I hope to continually challenge the boundaries of possibility in my work as well as continue to create quality for myself and the influences around me.
